CISET's objectives derive from a combination of
training activities (managerial, post-graduate)
and research conducted independently or in collaboration
with international partners. Its aim is to create
a body of researchers and operators trained to
competitive standards.

Evaluation of the macro-economic impact of tourism
on a national scale, and by macro-regions, produced
annually for the "Report on Tourism in Italy"
published by the Tourism Department of the Presidency
of the Council of Ministers.
1992. - Professional training courses for those
engaged in tourism, first set up in the Veneto.
"Cultural tourism" project co-ordinated
by ATLAS, the European Association for Education
in Tourism, Leisure and the Arts.
1993. - "Methods and problems in the promotion
of cultural resources in the small islands of
Central-Southern Italy", on behalf of the
Tourist Department of the Presidency of the Council
of Ministers.
1993. - "Techniques to establish carrying
capacity for visitors to areas of cultural heritage
in Europe", project co-ordinated by Oxford
Brookes University on behalf of the European Community.
1994. - "Tourism in cities of art";
problems in the management of tourist pressure
in cities of art, in collaboration with UNESCO
and other international research bodies.
1994. - "Alternative tourism routes in cities
of art", on behalf of the European Community,
in collaboration with EURICUR (University of Rotterdam)
and with UNESCO-ROSTE
1994-1995. - "Inquiry into tourist spending
in the Veneto: characteristics and macro-economic
effects", on behalf of the Regione Veneto.
1995-96. "The applications of telecommunications
and telematics for the optimum management of tourist
sector activities", project commissioned
by the Centro Studi San Salvador of TELECOM Italia
S.p.A.
1996. - "Etude sur la situation et l'identification
des besoins des douze pays de la Méditerranée",
research carried out in collaboration with Gruppo
CLAS, Milan, on behalf of EUROSTAT.
1997. - Research and on behalf of the Regione
Veneto, to comply with the requirements of the
Triennial Programme for the Promotion of Tourism1998-2000.
The Secretariat holds copies of the series Quaderni
CISET (published from 1993, and now in its twenty-first
volume); these illustrate the results of some
of the completed research projects.
Current projects
Ongoing collaboration with the Ministero per i
Beni Culturali e Ambientali- Ufficio Centrale
per i Beni Ambientali e Paesaggistici, on subjects
relating to the impact of tourism on art and culture.
The collaboration began with the development of
a study aimed at extending research into the human
impact of the tourist phenomenon in areas affected
by the presence of the two archaeological sites,
Pompei and Herculaneum.
On behalf of the Federazione dell'Industria del
Veneto, the preparation of an annual forecast
of international tourist movement towards the
Veneto.
On behalf of Promocommercio-a special enterprise
of the Chamber of Commerce of Venice- the preparation
of the research project "Spending and tourist
satisfaction", a study aiming at the construction
of a model for analysing the tourist phenomenon
at local level, in order that the requirements
of the tourist/commercial structures in the Provincia
di Venezia can be assessed.
