Conservation: the Cappella Emiliani
Venice in Peril has responded to an urgent appeal from the Venetian authorities to help with the 16th century Cappella Emiliani attached to San Michele on the cemetery island. Its marble walls and dome were being assailed by rising damp and rainwater, while the foundations are also suspect. The cost of saving this exquisite little building will be at least £250,000.
