San Rocco

San Rocco, Portal and Rose window, 2000-2001 Martin Randall Travel generously funded this project through their highly successful music festivals held in part in the Scuola di San Rocco. A contribution from the guests of the music festival was used to restore San Rocco's grand Renaissance portal, which faces the Scuola, and the roe window; these had been moved to the side of the church when the baroque facade was added in 1765. Restoration of the finely scuplted Renaissance stonework began with close-up examination from the scaffolding, followed by analysis of the stone and pigmentation. It concluded with cleaning and consolidation.
