Etchings of Venice - Federica Galli
An exhibition at Sotheran's
Federica Galli was born in Soresina in the province of Cremona, Italy in 1932 and studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts, Brera, Milan between 1950-54. It was at this time that the artist discovered etching. In 1963 Galli abandoned painting to concentrate entirely on printmaking. As a result her extensive body of work spans some fifty years and boasts over eight hundred printed plates.
The Venice Series was produced between 1983 and 1987 and includes 39 etchings. All the etchings in this exhibition are limited editions, printed on the highest quality paper and signed by the artist.
Venice in Peril Fund had the pleasure of partnering with Sotheran’s previously for another exhibition celebrating the work of Federica Galli in 2012, thanks to the connection of John Julius Norwich, at that time both our Chairman and a director of Henry Sotheran Ltd.
For more information about the exhibition please visit Sotheran’s website here.
We are grateful to Sotheran’s for their support of the Acqua Granda Appeal, commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the devastating 1966 floods in Venice.
