Sarah Quill will be giving a talk on Henry Bolingbroke’s (the future Henry IV of England) visit to Venice in the 1390s during a delayed pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Her talk will focus on the extensive documentary evidence, with plenty of illustrations of the churches he visited, the people he met and including at dinner with the Doge.

Sarah Quill, a trustee of Venice in Peril, has worked between Venice and London for many years to create a photograph archive of Venetian architecture, sculpture and daily life. Her book Ruskin’s Venice: the Stones Revisited (2000) was followed by a new edition, which has been translated into Italian. She lectures regularly, principally on Venetian subjects.

All proceeds from this event will go directly towards the vital conservation work of Venice in Peril Fund.

Standard tickets are non-refundable, but you will receive a lecture recording after the event.
