Venice Music Project
Join Venice Music Project at Boughton House, for an unforgettable day in partnership with Venice in Peril Fund, exploring the 18th century connections – artistic, musical and cultural – between Boughton and Venice.

Saturday 12 July 2025
11am - 7.30pm / 2pm - 7.30pm
At Boughton House, Kettering, Northamptonshire, NN14 1BJ
A day of Music, Art and Discovery at Boughton House offers a choice between a full- and half-day experience, both concluding with a concert in The Great Hall featuring rediscovered works by Vivaldi’s contemporaries, Giovanni Porta and Johann Adolf Hasse, alongside music by Handel and Vivaldi.
Highlights include a morning concert at Warkton Church by the Venice Music Project Ensemble with soloists Liesl Odenweller, Caterina Chiarcos, and Alexander Simpson, followed by a private view of the Montagu Monuments. The afternoon features the UK premiere of Venetian Mysteries: The Lost Music, a talk by Professor Marica Tacconi, introduced by Montagu Collection Curator, Paul Boucher.
Visitors can also enjoy guided tours of Boughton House and gardens, including the restored Great Hall ceiling and the gardens’ new revived features. One of Venice in Peril Fund’s Trustees, Professor Deborah Howard, will introduce the Venetian works from the Buccleuch collection in the Venice and the Grand Tour exhibition, which showcases paintings, sculptures, drawings and historic music manuscripts.
Venice Music Project was founded in 2013 by a group of musicians whose careers had taken them around the world, but who wanted to make a difference for Venice. With a passion and commitment to “Musical Archaeology” – the rediscovery of lost musical treasures through research in archives and libraries – VMP has made research a focal part of its mission. However, music risks being lost again if it cannot be shared. VMP presents and shares its discoveries in concert series in Venice and around the world, and by offering modern editions of manuscripts for other organizations to perform and enjoy.
