In this talk Sandra Romito will shine a spotlight on the little known story of Venetian artists working in England during the eighteenth century and highlight their significant contribution to British art, which beautifully complemented the taste for Palladian architecture and led to commissions by some of the most discerning and prominent patrons of the time – shaping London homes and country houses in a way unseen before.

Highlighting an important period of artistic activity in eighteenth century Britain by the likes of Sebastiano Ricci, Jacopo Amigoni and Canaletto, Sandra Romito emphasises how the Venetian connection in England is stronger than we may have thought.

Sandra Romito is an Italian art historian based in London and senior consultant for the Old Master and British Paintings at Christie’s.

All proceeds from this event will go directly towards the vital conservation work of Venice in Peril
