Presentation with Panel Discussion: 3.30pm (CET)

By invitation only

At the Archivio di Stato di Venezia, Campo dei Frari, San Polo, Venice.

Since April 2024 Venice in Peril Fund has supported the restoration and rebinding of two precious medieval Mariegole, or statutes, which belonged to the Scuola Grande della Misericordia and Scuola Grande di San Giovanni Evangelista, and which were the subject of a theft from the Venetian State Archives in the 1940s.

On Thursday 19 June, the Archivio di Stato di Venezia will host a special conference and presentation, celebrating the completion of conservation work on the Mariegole and their return to their rightful home in Venice.

We have been delighted to collaborate with the Archivio di Stato on this project, and during the conference Andrea Erboso, Director of the Archivio, will be joined by Dr Susan Steer, Venice in Peril’s Responsabile a Venezia.   Among those presenting are Dr Lisa Fagin-Davis, who will speak about her extraordinary discovery and research into the mariegole in Boston, and Dott.ssa Miriam Rampazzo, the specialist conservator who undertook the conservation project.

During the event, the mariegole will be exhibited, and those attending will have the special opportunity to view them up-close and in detail.
